Daniel Heithoff
Dan, Linda’s brother, likewise was born and raised in Council Bluffs, and he still lives here with wife Judy—to whom he’s been married for nearly 40 years. He’s maintained a lifelong commitment to serving those with disabilities, the result of he and Linda having both sister Mary Pat and brother Joseph born with Down syndrome.
In 1983, Dan helped establish Care Homes, a much-needed group-living option in Council Bluffs for adults with special needs. He then helped manage one of those units, along with working at Bethany Lutheran Homes. A non-practicing CPA, he continues to help the community, most recently by serving as Treasurer for Bethany Lutheran Services.
He and Judy, a retired schoolteacher from the Council Bluffs schools, have three adult children: Ben, Ali and Sam. Dan looks forward to serving as the Treasurer of Horses Help SWI. In his words, “As my brother Joe liked to say, ‘Hay is for horses.’ And ‘hey,’ he sure would have loved working with horses at the ranch. You will, too."
